Don't forget to lightly grease those ball bushings and the ends of the driveshaft when you put it back together so they don't wear out quickly.

As far as I can tell, this should be the last mechanical issue to deal with. I have pretty much fixed everything else, but I am sure something will pop up too soon.

Well I finished up cutting and drilling the new 5/8" rod to replace the old drive shaft. Got the fan and flanges installed. Just waiting on the flywheel flange and I will be able to get it all back together before the really cold weather hits. Also the starter has been sticking on the ole girl, so I got down on eye level with it and proceeded to remove it and see if I could clean it up. Let's just say it took me longer to remove the starter than it did to finish my drive shaft. I hate KT series starter locations. Anyway, I got it out without too much damage to the tins, and was very happy to see it had the nut on the end, that would allow me to disassemble it and clean it up and then put it back together. It was pretty nasty, but some kerosene and a brush got everything looking like new. Works great again. Got it back on, and the tins buttoned back up. Unless something major happens with the motor or hydro, the ole girl should be good to go for a couple more decades. Sorry no pics today.

Almost easier to pull the engine to get at the starter on the KT’s and Mag 18-20’s.
Glad you got it fixed.

Yep, I need to rig up a winch to lift the motors up, the old back just won't do it anymore.
