I Bought a 1991 2182 In January 2021 From RF Houtz

BTW, the deck that came with the 2182 is still for sale By RF Houtz. That was one thing I never wanted to do with this super, is use it for mowing. It's going to be used for 3 point and Blower work

I added the Xtreme Modified 82 series Cat 0 3point and have since converted it to a Limited Cat 1 3point hitch Thanks to Bill Ruegg, so I can trade attachment between the 2182 & My Deere X748.

Got a 450 Blower for free from My Neighbor for it, which had been on his 1541

Got to at least try the 450 out once this winter, but we seem to have snow drought here in Northeaster IL
You're telling me about the snow drought (I'm probably not far away from you).

It's pretty cool you got yours from RF Houtz -- is there a hole drilled in the sidepanel to check the oil?

My deck has the Houtz sticker but I'm not sure if the tractor is from there. Mine is a 1992.

I needed one for my new diesel super so I found one with the right profile on eBay and will trim it to fit if needed. They're quite pricey for the OEM one (P/N on Cub Site, link on top of page here). It seems everyone I've found with that proper weldment up front has the flanges the right distance apart and 2 holes in the right place, just need some clearance for the mule drives.

I think This Place https://www.ihccw.com/ Might Have 1 or 2 In again. That's where I bought one In August 2021, But You Might want to Go with this http://www.xtrememotorworks.com/Weig...20Bumpers.html Instead, Then You can put suitcase weights On the Tractor. He also builds a rear weight bracket as well. But because I have a 3 point. I won't bother with the rear weight bracket as you have to take off the 3point Hitch plate to use it and that can be a royal PIA because the Bolt Into the Transmission case actually go into the center Case and You have to reseal the bolts each time with something like this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 so I Just added a receiver Hitch and Use a Sleeve Hitch Insert from heavy Hitch with a 4 suitcase sleeve Hitch Mount weight bracket from Johnny Products. Next Fall I may add a Bercomac Cab to my 2182. If I use the 450 blower next year. Though I may just go with a rear Blade on the 2182 next winter As I have a Deere Blower for My JD X748 anyway. I would love to find a Haban front Blade for the 2182 But there hard to find around where I live

The original MTD front bumper is part number 190-398-100. As stated above, this place says they have two in stock..

https://www.ihccw.com/index.php?rout...roduct_id=1049

I have made two of them for my tractors using the later 190-298-100 bumper designed for a 2000 series tractor. The face bar portion is identical. I fabbed up the mounting brackets using an original as a template..

Update on the tractor. I put a new seat on it yesterday. I have a new air filter, spark plugs, and fuel filter sitting here. Oil looks good, but I'm going to change it anyway so I know what's in it. Hoping to get all that done this weekend sometime and see how it's running after that. The idle seems a bit low to me, so I'd like to bump that up some as well.

I also need to go over it and grease any fittings. I think I'm going to go ahead and get the deck off as well and get that into the shop to start looking it over. I'd like to paint it back to the original yellow as well. I may throw the blower on just for kicks to see if it works properly, though I don't have plans to need it this season, my other tractor has a blade on it already anyway.

The guy I bought it from said his pal's dad worked at the local dealer (this was in Saint Charles, so not sure if that's Houtz or not) and they drilled holes for dipstick access routinely, and allegedly he prepped that tractor at the dealership back in 1992. Not my thing, but it works I suppose.

The 3 Cub Cadet dealers around St Charles area

1. Ralph Helm Elgin after he took over Elburn a Driver For Helm Hit somebody and Killed a Person so They closed the Elburn Location Because he was being sued and I think Last year closed the Chrystal Lake Location and I Noticed Ralph Now has other Partners with Him at his Only Location

2. Carol stream Lawn & power

3. RF Houtz In Elburn

There was another for a Little while, But That was Only Between 2011 and 2017
Bad customer service customers even had to use the Dupage country Sheriff to get Machines Back when they closed.

I don't Know Wasco could Have sold Cub Cadet at One time

With Houtz Closed as a full Line dealer since 2016 I use Carol Stream Law & Power

Wife and I Bought a 2017 XT2 GX54D for a friend from Helm,
Carol stream stopped selling Cub for a year or so didn't realize they were back selling it again when we Bought the XT2 GX54 otherwise we would have bought from them. Big Mistake, buying from Helm. 1st snow Blade for the GX54 D Lasted less than 1 winter season. Helm claimed our friend used it commercially, so MTD wouldn't cover it under warranty. Then I went there for Transmission fluid Later On after I Bought My 2018 Cub Cadet XT3 GSX(bought from Dekane equipment) and the Part's Manager proceeded to argue with Me On doing a Transmission oil change that it didn't need it and I haven't gone back since.

We ordered a Cub Cadet SX 54 Z Force from Carol Stream last October, should be In sometime in April. I just finally got sick of Mowing with a convention tractor, but I don't like lap Barn zero turns either, so bought a SX with steering wheel. Had been Mowing with the XT3GSX since June 2018 and the way I mow the property, a Zero turn is just better suited for it. The XT3 will be used for Bercomac Tiller work & Bercomac Rotary Broom work. . I have 6 Cub Cadet Garden tractor 5 Deere Garden tractor Plus a Deere compact and 3 other Garden tractors of different bands so a Little Garden tractor Crazy 5 cub cadets at the House My Cub 70 and a Cub 60 Rear engine rider our In storage down In Naperville at a Car condo that My Brother's and I own.

Wow, that's crazy. This would have been 1992.

Don't forget the Farm & Fleets are full service cub dealers. Terry is really good in Woodstock. Elgin would be closer to you. I heard Helm was closing CL due to no product, but it would make sense they're saying that if there are...others issues. Sorry to hear about your experience there.

One of Helm's mechanics from Chrystal Lake work's In the Ag Shop Of Buck Bros of Harvard(now AHW of Harvard) He set Up My JD 2025R compact along with the Head Small engine Mechanic at Harvard which You Might Know Max Wilson

Max's Family Farm or whats left of it is at Rt 23 & River road On the North East Corner He Had about forty John Deere 2 cylinders In that Green Barn Up there just before the Marengo Ridge Conservation Area

If I Just dealt with Ralph it was No Problem But his service Manager at Elgin I just want to throttle him

Well There is Johnson Tractor Up In Harvard I use to use them when they were AA Anderson's

Carol stream outdoor Power is 40 plus years old. Current Owner Has owned it over 30 years

Farm & fleet use to Carry Up to the 2500 series at One time But Now they are Limited to the XT2 series In Lawn & Garden XT3 is still the Traditional Dealer and You could not order the 3000 series from them either when That was on the Market. So they are a Little Limited

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
