Great info guys, I'll see if I can get at the PTO tonight.
And trust me - these "finds" sound a lot better than they are. I also just found a mower attachment for this model in much better condition than mine for about $100. Assuming I get the 122 running, is that a good price? |

75-100 bucks seems to be the average price I see for decks for these cubs, used private party sales of course.

Beings that you're in NY ... I don't know where, but anywhere you are you will appreciate that snowthrower!! This is definitely a project worth investing into. You will not find a higher quality tractor to match what you have found!!! Ask anyone here. They are a handful of small hassles, and such, but remember that its 40+ years old. You can still find parts, accessories, attachments, anything you could dream of, and all the tips and tricks are available here on this site. These machines are awesome! Worth every bit of work to get them back to running condition. Worse case, I know you could sell it to someone who wants to fix it up.
Good luck on your new home and Cub!

Nice find for sure. You will enjoy the cub and it is pretty much a guarantee you will find the sickness that goes with it, yellow fever
When I bought my house I found 3 pennies, yep and all dated 1991. Wooooooo...............:

Anyone know where I can locate a carb rebuild kit? My bud and I are tackling the rebuild this weekend.

should be in stock at your local cub cadet dealer. That is where I got the rebuild kit for my 1450, for 13 bucks. If not I am sure you can get it from one of the supporting vendors who have ads at the top of every page here at OCC forums.

Everything I'm seeing indicates this is a 12hp engine, is that correct?
I've also learned that there's a brake lock on the 122. That would be a good thing to check the next time I'm attempting to move it! ![]() William, I'm on Long Island and I can tell you with absolute certainty that the LARGE snowblower attachment will save me time and patience. I have a 24" Ariens, which works great, but with 24" of snow, it can take forever with the wheels spinning and you pushing like crazy. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
