I have an 882d that needs a head gasket. 50'' mower. $1000.
In maryland zip 20866.
Or could someone recommend the easiest manual to use for the head gasket replacement?
the ITI manuals are usually lacking. Is the repro cub 782D, 882 manual better for engine teardowns than the kubota D 600 manual?

It was one owner and garage kept at a church for grounds maintnance. I know my 782 was a good deal but this message bord prevented me from jumping into a big regret, thanks guys

Every 782D I've seen was well over $1800, just something about them people think they are gold. If i wasn't into cubs I would hands down buy a gaser over a diesel any day, there is just something cool about the D though.

The longevity, torque and outstanding fuel efficiency really make the diesels excellent pieces of equipment. Plus, I'm one of those freaks who love the smell of burned diesel.

Hey guys, Im from NC too. I came across this 782D just two days ago on the side of the highway in Albemarle NC at a car dealership.
Price on it is $1950.00 and wouldnt budge on the price. Says he just serviced it and also put on a new deck belt and a new voltage reg. Looks pretty good. No headlights. No 3pt. I did not hear it run, but he was willing to let me to drive it and mow with it. There was fresh grass on the deck.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
