I asked for the serial number again, since I seem to have lost my info on that tractor in my move to the acreage, though I am 100% sure it is a cast iron rear. The pictured tractor is the tractor I might trade back for.

He wants to trade you that beauty for your 1450?? And you haven't traded yet!!!!!!!
![]() ![]() All kidding aside, that's a nice looking 782. If it were me, I'd trade in a heartbeat if the 782 runs as good as she looks. And this is coming from a guy who likes the yellow ones just as much as the red ones. ![]() Could be an optical illusion, but the serial number tag on the second pic looks bigger which would make it a CCC one. It still could have a cast iron rear as the early CCC ones did. You'll know more when you get the serial number.

It is purdy, but it is a CCC built 782
The black seat springs gave it away.My 582 had them, but the rear was cast iron with aluminum axle housings. I would still trade it for a 1450.

Thanks for the note on the seat springs. I also remember the rear end and the front axle being black, which is another sign of it being a CCC machine. That is why I need to look at it again, and check the serial number. 4th of July weekend is when the decision will take place. I also really want to look over the 682 he offered originally.
Somewhere I have a picture of my current 782 and this one in my driveway together on trade day. The serial numbers were not that far apart. That was the day that I had 2 782's for about 10 minutes. My yellow one is 700647 or something like that. For now, I am trading to the same person the 44" deck that is on that red tractor for a 50" deck so I can help my off topic garden tractor mow my 5 acres. A 44" deck makes a unit more attractive to the Suburban DeKalbites in Northern IL. They pay big money for a machine that looks like a real tractor. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
