Does a yellow CCC 582 have leftover parts on it from IH? It has international on the dash and has the clock style hour meter.

That's funny Lew. Yep that's why I asked if it had a cast rear in it. It was built with left overs. Sounds like you got it for an even better deal than it was listed for, That's a great deal. I wanted to go down there after we left your place and pick that up but Mike wouldn't let me .

Today I gave the 582 a bath and took a good look at what I need to get this moving,Runs well, need a carb kit in it but otherwise I have to split it to put in the replacement gear reduction housing, resurface the clutch plates and put in a new spherical bushing on the motor end.

After power washing off the dirt on the tranny I see it was red at one time then painted black.Looks like leftover parts here too.

If you are going to dig into the clutch, I highly recommend replacing the clutch spring with a stiffer one. Here is a part number for one you can hopefully get local. I have one in my 582 and it is great.

New Holland (part # PECP1511A1) or AGCO (part # EP1511)

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
