The rear PTO's are harder to find, but I don't know if they are rare. As Roland said, they are not really useful for anything unless someone comes up with some cool uses, belt pulley, ice cream maker, sickle mower, etc. that is modified to fit. The rear PTO's only came on the gear drives on the era in question (1X8/1X9/1X00). I've seen em on 108's and 128's. Even seen one on an 800 (cool attachment on a rare cub). Now those reversers usually bring good money. The Epay add is pretty pricey IMHO. Maybe because of the NOS claim, dunno??? If you are gonna get it for free, go pick it up tomorrow! Ya don't see 'em everyday. Good luck and let's see some pics!

Allen he's way out of line on the price on that. Add the $600 for the reverser to make it fuctional and add the cost of the tractor to it and you might as well get a super with rear pto. To me the pto isn't worth $300-375 even if it is a NOS.

I wasnt going to buy that ebay ad... I was jsut using it for reference.

I was saying that I bought a truck from a older guy, and he is going to give me a old cub cadet he has, and he told me it has a PTO on the back. It said it was from the 70s, and im not sure what it is so I was only speculating. Im out of town this weekend, but I hope to get by his house and pick up the free cub next week. When I do, we will all know what it is!

keep in mind, the "pto on the back" could just be a 90degree gear box used to run a tiller that he may think is a rear pto...but also, if there is a 90 degree gear box on it, there may be a tiller lurking somewhere.....so i guess its a win win for you.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
