I recently installed a model 2 tiller on a 1450 with the 44" rotary lawn mower deck mule drive. I had to tighten the belt tightening bolt a lot to get the belt good and tight. The belt wobbles a bit but seems to work fine. What kind of problems are your running into with the mule drive with the bent idler pullies??

That's what I wanna know. What problems happen when trying to use the angles mule drive?

The -problem- is:
On the 44A and 50A decks, the center pulley is not centered under the tractor, thus the mule drive pullies are mounted on arms that 'angle', to send the belt to the off centered drive pulley on the deck. The tiller drive pulley IS centered on the tractor, since it bolts to the transaxle and the tiller 90* gearbox pulley is centered with the center of the tractor. So, if you have mule drive pullies that are angled, and a rear pulley that is centered, you have a difference of angle.....and you will chew up the side of the belt, or constantly throw the l-o-n-g belt off. I took an extra A series deck mule drive, straightened the pulley arms, and have been using it on my 1450 for the last 8 years...with the same IH made tiller belt, with NO problems. 'straightened arms'

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
