Okay so It looks like I have spoken too soon. I was cutting the grass today and about 5 min in to it the tractor died. NO SPARK once again. I pushed it back in to the garage and tinkered with it for just a few min. I checked the points and they looked good and I did a quick look over the wires and they looked good. I am going to try and take a better look at it tonight once my son goes to sleep for the night. Any ideas on whats going on or what might be blown and why. I am banging my head against the wall with this one.

Steve,

Thank you sop much for those wiring diagrams and diagnostic advice. My 1250 does not charge and I don't want to buy a regulator unless it is bad. With these diagrams, I can trace a bit.

wow, sorry to hear your still having a problem.

I would check out the ignition switch if your sure the wires and connections to everything are good.Must be loseing the connection from the switch to the positive side of the coil at times when the switch is in the run position.

Your grounds are all good I assume? none of them can vibrate and get disconnected?

Run a wire from the battery directly to the coil to "test" all the ignition wiring.

I had a tractor with an intermittent ignition switch, this was my easy way to diagnose it.

So good news today I found the lose like thanks to the advice I got about jumping the coil. I found the lose wire, It past me due to it being in a plastic case and having two wires in it but only one was lose. so I hopefully this will be the last of the issues. here is a picture of the lose connection. and the finished product.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
