It looks like the m20s uses the same block as the m18s. If that's correct I might be in luck and will be able to rebuild this one. I'm going to pull it out and tear it down later today and see what I'm going to need.

The case halves might be the same, but the crank, rods, pistons, and possibly the jugs are different between an M18 and an M20, if I remember correctly.

Juggs and head are different too.

I would have still given the $350 for it even if it had a blown engine. Shop around for another tractor that has a good running Magnum in it. It may not show up quickly , but it will.
If you still didn't want it and you wasn't so far away , i would try to work a deal with you . But if you keep it and fix it , you won't be disappointed. |

Many other types of tractors had the Mags in them....Just search the net and one will come up or check epay...Also, if you are not concerned about the originality of it you could repower with a Kohler Command....Lots of optionss no need it getting discouraged..

You still got a good deal. The mower deck is worth the 350.

looks like I need 1 cylinder, cam, rod and piston and a governor gear. I'm going to bring the cases to a friend of mine and see if he can salvage them if not I can get both halves of an m18s for $80 that are in good shape.
I think the crank might have been spared. we'll see. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
