Maybe you could use something like this for the front axels. You will probably need a set of wheels that will take 1" ID bearings. http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-st...tubing/=jeh1kk Item # 7767T37*

Thanks Sam Mac, that's kinda what I'm looking for. Saw some hardened, weldable tubing that would probably work. Kinda pricey though. I need to order some brake lining material from McMaster anyway, so maybe I'll give it a go.
@ Zippy1. Sorry, didn't pay close enough attention. Guess I'll stay away from welding up the cuts. |

with your post, I guess it's time to tear apart my 1250 so I can get at the hydro valves. I've been putting it off for too long. Forward works fine (although sometimes "jerky")...reverse is "iffy" at times.

TnPaul: I agree with Sam Mac, what you need is an axle with 1" spindles --they can be obtained for not much money. It appears to me that you have 3/4" spindles. Of course, moving to 1" spindles means moving to 1" wheels (and bearings), but I think it is possible to get the entire package --Axle, Spindles, and Wheels-- for not too much money.
Something to consider, in any case.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
