Are you using the correct weight of oil? Hydraulic lifters are a bit picky with oil...I think the Kohler Commands need 10W30 above 32 degrees F.

Lawnmower had betting setting for a while. Yes i put new oil 10w/30w plus new filter, new gas. Lawnmower started and ran great the first 7 or 8 times. Then started to backfire through the carburator when you tried to start it. I think now we have narrowed it down to a bad hydrolic lifter.

Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the information about the parts. I ordered them from the same place you got yours from. Parts will be here thursday. I have it narrowed down to the hydrolic lifters. The parts from them are a whole lot cheeper than they are here. And for the same part numbers.
Will let you know how it turns out.

THANKS AGAIN.

Cool! Glad that was all it took.
Did they send you the solid pushrods? Were your old ones solid or did they have holes in the ends? My originals had holes, and the new ones didn't. I heard that was an issue and they had changed.

They sent the new solid pushrods. We thought that the reason they replaced them was maybee the other ones were flexing. But anyways the motor is running great. Thanks again for the advice and help.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
