another solution is to take the pan off, and drill out the bolt holes. The ones in my 1650 are now 7/16 fine thread, tightened almost to the point of stripping. I used brand new bolts and washers. That tractor shakes like a (bad shaking tractor) at all speeds accept WOT.
good luck

alright. ill look around and see if i cant find one. for now i put some locktite on them to hold them in place, its a low strength so it wont take much to break them apart again.

I've done quite a bit of helicoiling in my day-
I will say they are used on all aerospace applications for a long time. Good product and you can get an automotive kit for the bolts from amazon for $18 or so. I would do both LHS bolts. If the pan has severe wear on the bottom- you might consider replacing it. Helicoil is stronger as it provides better load distribution to the first few threads which take most of the load and it effectively is a bolt size bigger. I just did a bolt on my 1650 as it was stripped. I tried finding a decent pan on ebay- BECAREFUL. Most of those used lawnmower guys say in their write-up- no warrantee. I got a cast iron pan and it had a HUGE crack. Twice the guy insisted it was free upgrade and he would give me the "superior" aluminum pan. Dispute and he *had* to get his pan back with the huge crack... Ordered up an aluminum one from Patton's and it was useable but had a stripped thread. Michael Michael |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
