I would get the 1811. If you can afford it get both.
The only problem with a 1650 or a 1450 is you need two right arms to run the Hydro and the lift control valve. Brian

Seems the 1811 gets the popular vote... I was under the impression the "older" ones were better quality... I guess they are all good...?
fwiw I spoke to the owner of the 1450. Nice guy, he mentioned that it also comes with a cultivator, lawn roller and maybe another odd piece or 2... I am cetainly warming up to the sounds of the 1811 though... I also want to thank everyone for the warm welcome!! |

Yeah they are both pretty good machines, but IMO I'd go for the 1450 all day long over the 1811. The 1450 does it for me more than the 1811 does. Either choice is going to be good for you.

Hey, either of the cubs would be great. I'm partial to the IH Cubs (pre-CCC/MTD which I think excludes the 1811) but I'm still learning. All the other guys like the 1811, so you probably should take their advice. Certainly the implements make a good case for the 1811.

Hi Michael. Welcome.
I am east of Toronto about 65 miles. My preference is the 1450. I just bought one a couple weeks ago. But it needs work, lots of it. Careful, the Cubs are a disease.

I like both cubs. The easier one to operate though is the 1811. They didn't really start to cheapen them up till after the 1811 so it is still very similar to the older cubs. My vote 1811.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
