Snuck out and got the gas tank pulled and drained. Need to get that motor out ASAP so I can order parts and then I can work on the rest. The motor is going to control the schedule of this project. I'm really happy how easily everything is coming apart. So far only one rounded nut that just needed some vise grip actio. I am actually finding a lot of loose fastners.

Should be picking up a rear lift this week for it. Out of town for work tonight so I wont be getting any work done today or tomorrow. I'm hoping the lift is still avail on Wednesday.
I also ordered a throwout bearing as that was one of the things you guys suggested replacing.

Been out in the garage workin on her for the past 2 hours or so. Got the motor pulled, Head pulled off and started doing some inspection. I need to go to my parents house and get some tools to get it torn out the rest of the way for inspection but I think I found the culprit for the oil burning/smoking.
Here is a pic of the tractor as it sits now. I am going to grab the sand blaster from my parents as well and I will start taking the rest of the tractor apart once I figure out what I am doing with the motor. I want to get the motor done and then start painting. ![]() Dont mind my weim sitting their enjoying a bone while I work I am guessing this is why it was smoking. Also the head bolts werent tight ![]() Cylinder walls look really good and what I could measure without pulling the piston yet was within spec of the piston size. ![]() And here is why it looks good ![]() already bored .030 over How come the back side of my 3 pin driver looks like this? Should I be looking for a new one? ![]() So with the above photos and the cyl being spot on for .030 I am going to go ahead and just replace gaskets and put it back together. I believe the reason for the oil burning is the blown head gasket as everything else in the motor looks nice. I will check out the rings when I get the piston pulled. If it was your motor would that be where you stop or would you get a full rebuild kit for it? after I get the rod out I will be able to tell if the crank was ground yet but if it was and the rod was replaced im done with that. It does look like i need some valve work though but gaskets and the valves are much cheaper than a whole rebuild kit and the connecting rod.

Complete brain fart. I just realized all I had to do was pup off 2 bolts and pull the pistion/rod. Rod is new crank was ground .010. Rings look brand new and none are stuck. Measured the bore again and it is all within spec of being bored .030 over.
