Haban 402-E was made for the Wide Frames, 1X8/9 and Quiet Lines.
Haban 402-D was for Narrow Frames. Not 100% sure but I believe there were others for Narrow Frames 402-A, 402-C, and a 402-F (probably for a Wide Frame). I wish someone who really knows would post the model numbers and what they were suposed to fit. Two weekends ago I took the 402-E off of my 128 and put it on my 106. I didn't find anything that seemed different, and I didn't have to make any modifications/adjustments. That's not saying that something wont "show up" after I use it more.

there is a Haban users group on Yahoo. Lots of good info regarding all things Haban. I've got a few videos of my 402-D on my youtube page. One thing about it, you definitely need counter weight if you're going to be using it on a slope!

Yosemite Sam..
I do believe you flip the drive pulley so it will line up with the NF pto better. The 402-e was $312.00 in 1972

Thanks for posting that brochure. The fact that it can be used to cut at angles and on slopes makes it even more useful (and desirable).

I read someplace about flipping the pulley over but I thought that was for putting it on a Quiet Line (I suffer from CRS so I may be wrong).
Back in 1972, one would REALLY need a sickle mower to justify spending $312.00 for it. Interesting fact, thanks for sharing. Funny how some things really hold their value.

I dont know about you guys, but running it vertical is a little spooky with the sickle bar screaming right next to your right side lol. They are quick little suckers.

"Safety" was not much of a priority back in the 70s

That dude in the picture needs a cigarette in his mouth and a beer in his left hand! I don't think they could sell those today.

I would kinda like to cut vertical along the fence row, to keep the neighbors brush outta my yard, we'll have to see how comfortable I am with it after a little more use.
Not sure but it looks like there is a beer bottle sticking up between the guys left leg and the hood of the tractor.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
