Ok, here we go. A friend of mine fell head over heals for a brand new loaded, white Pontiac T/A with t-tops.
Now this is where it get's a little fuzzy. I know the car was a 79, but it must have been 1980 when he bought it, because it was the fishing derby on the river and that happens in January each year. So one week after he bought it we were out on the river at the "fishing shack" doing what young guys do. ![]() So we were "fishing" all day, and it was beer thirty again, black of night and my buddy was going up town for another 1/4 barrel of beverages. Next thing here he was coming back on foot just wild mad, hollering something that will not be repeated here. He got off the main trail on his way back to town and the car fell into the ice, three wheels fell through. Being your typical rednecks of the day we were going to pull it out before our local law enforcement agent was called. Well someone chiseled enough ice to get a chain to the rear end and the other to a 4X4 and started tugging. It moved very little so we hooked on another 4X4 and after some time it finally let loose. Next morning we got together to clean things up from the night before and found out that the T/A (brand new T/A) buckled right in the middle, the t-tops wouldn't close, and the door gaps were more than they were supposed to be. Basically, JUNK! I'm thinking falling through the ice is what did it in, but the pull didn't help matters much. The car was totaled by the insurance company. My redneck story.

It's ok, it's a Jeep Cherokee. No big loss.

I want to know what they thought they would do after they pulled the broken truck up the little hill. Were they gonna fix it right there? Why not call a wrecker to pull it out of the hole and tow it home before totally beating the crap out of it? Oh to be young and stupid. Good thing we didn't all have cameras when I was young and stupid. No evidence.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
