the CVT has been around for a while now and works pretty well think about the golf cart industry they have been using them for along time!! I think if they made a heavy duty version I'd break it too but its probably a great tranny for the average Joe that dont use it in any way other than mowing plain non hilly yard!! Me I over use my stuff!!! Sorry CAD i dont think plastic has a place in rear ends!! Imagine a heavier than normal joe test sitting on that 500lbs tractor limit or less... i like the idea minus the plastic and not being able to change the oils.... cool commercial though!

I sure do like these old cubbies! I think golf carts and atv's {bikes} are not built to preform what our garden tractors are built for, obviously. I think the fine spline axels are better. But for home owners who just want the lawn trimmed, fine for those folks.
I think one day soon, the market will pick back up for the garden tractors. For the amount of land I have, my IHCC's are a perfect balance! ![]() Lol! This yard roller would make you a pile of scrap out of that unit!

I bet with one of those trans, you can't pull a 1466 tractor. Like my 100 can. Tug a war would tare that apart.

If IH aluminum was pretty much junk, then cvt is real trash. These new machines cost two, three, even four or five times as much as a classic machine. Even with resto costs a classic cub is much better. I'm afraid I will stick with classic iron so as to never have to worry that I may snatch the rear out mowing the lawn...

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
