Smoker: I have 2 12hp motors in my shop one has dual oil tubes the other 1 w/just one tube. Just guessing there is a difference in what year the motors were made.

My 1000 the tube is on the outside of the shroud but my 1650 is enclosed but both are QL's. but 1 year different on the production.

Now for your strap a lot of guys including my self ground strap the starter just to make the tractor have a better grounding system. These little guys get some funny little electrical problems going sometimes and our thinking is better ground maybe less problems.

Hey smoker62....I agree with Yosemite Sam and I hope you don't give up on this forum.

Everyones opinion is what makes this a great place. I have been "busted" by other forum members also but I need to tell myself to just take it in stride and remember that they are entitled to their opinions AND their opinions are needed. That's what makes this a great forum, IMO.

There have been some great points brought up by this thread. Probably this biggest one is on follow-up. I can definately see how easy it would be to ask a question, get an answer and proceed on my way without going back and telling everyone how it ended! I don't have a great deal of knowledge on these machines.....yet......but am looking forward to helping in the future and it sure would be nice to know IF you really helped anyone or not!

Ok....I'm done....sorry for rambling.

Thanks Pops,that was what I was looking for . My manuals are kept in my storage building with my Cubs 5 miles from my house. These questions were thought of while home watching the tube. I think I will add the ground to my 1250 like I see on the 1200, makes sense. The tube issue was asked because I ultimately bought the 1200 to rebuild the engine and put it in my 1250 but when I was thinking of the tube being different it made me wonder why and if it would fit. Not sure where in a manual to start looking for that . But Im not going to

here. I think things are getting way off topic. And I buy all my parts from the sources here.

Smoker: The only per se difference is the 1200 is a gear drive while the 1250 is Hydro the motor mounts are the same. Tube location w/shroud or without should be of no problem.

I tore into the engine today. I pulled the head and was surprised how clean the cylinder walls were and the piston is stock bore. Once I decarboned it and cleaned it up there was a small wear mark but all looks good. I just buttoned it up with a new head gasket . I am putting a new coil , condenser, points , points push rod, in it this afternoon. I am soaking the #26 carb in some carb cleaner and have a rebuild kit for it. I have the tank cleaned and am rewiring some bad looking connections to the points and ignition. I will pull the battery from my 07 Husqvarna tomorrow and see if she will fire. I actually was going to rebuild this one but I may put this one in my 1250 I need for the winter snowblowing season and rebuild the 1250. That one is scored and has an 020 over piston in it now. Probably the better candidate for a rebuild. What do you think? Something else I just noticed, the condenser is on the coil positve and the wiring diagrams show it on the coil negative. Both the 1250 and 1200 are this way.

On the issues above, I apologize to Myron, RC, Merk, YSam and any others if I offended you. I was up late when I responded and probably let the issues get to me a little more than I should have. I have been working too many long hours lately and sometimes get a little difficult when tired. At least thats what my wife tells me.

Thank you all for your hard work, I don't know what all is involved, but I am confident that it time consuming and tedious at best.

I'd also like to agree with Wild Bill, there is a tremendous amount of mis-information on MTF, sometimes I just have to shake my head in amazement...

For those of you who have been around here for a long time, I can see where it can become monotonous. Even for me, sometimes when I read a new post, I think to myself, "Waddaya doin, we just went over that yesterday..."

Smoker, good to hear you've made some progress. Is that 1250 hydro lift? Yeah this is definitely a great site. This is one of the few websites that has such great tech info and members.
