I did pull the yellow wire off of the M, key switch and also from the side of the motor where it attaches to the wire from the armatures. I was told it was a Kill wire for the motor. It still has no spark or fire. Im in the process of looking at all the wires again to make sure nothing is crossed. Im certian it doesnt take any wire to make a spark, just the stator, armatures and starter. I think I have something hooked up wrong..looking at my wires

Sounds like you have a bad Magneto(s).

The Stator is for "charging". The "starter" is for rolling the engine over. I am not clear on what you mean by armature. However, none of these three items have anything to do with the "spark".

Im not sure bedell. This is the third(second one I broke) one I bought from briggs. It just has 4 bolts and two yellow wires that has a connection already on it that plugs into my votage reg. Im almost done tracing all the wires and bout to hook them back up. I didnt find anything wrong.

Where does the wire from the armature go? is it a ground or hot?
Does it connect to the yellow wire thats already ran and connected to the housing?

Motor runs fine or well did before I decided to replace the stator and armaters.

I did find the wire on the armatures was bad so I replaced it. That is a ground wire or at least I hope since I hooked it up back where it was with the yellow wire(kill wire) as im reading. Any other help or ideas?
Did you replace the wire between the two armatures with a homemade wire? That is the kill wire and it has a diode in it. It’s number 5 in the pic. Part number 493792 WIRE ASSEMBLY

Briggs calls the Mags Armatures, don't ask me why.

Yes I did replace it with a homemade wire. I didnt see no diode in it since it was all broken in pieces and chewed up from the flywheel.

My guess is if you remove your wire it will start and as long as you have the fuel shutdown solenoid wired correctly it will shut off but it will take a few seconds to shut off. You will need the proper wire harness from Briggs in order for it to function properly.

It should run on both cylinders with your wire removed. You may have cooked one of the Mags they way you had it hooked up. See if you have spark on both plugs.

I am going to move this thread to the MTD CCC area since this is turning into more of the how do I fix this type of deal.

I had the same issue with my Vaguard. There is a diode in each wire that goes to each mag. Go to Radio-shack and get 2 $2 diodes and put them in each kill wire. The ones I picked up are rated at 1000 volts @ 1.5 amps. The new harness that came with my mags didn't have them in either. The diode keeps them from grounding each other out.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
