How big is the pulley you have? a bigger pulley on the deck will make it go slower.

I have the small pulley, I think you have the big pulley. I'll measure it for you tomorrow, but this is what it looks like.

Measured the pulleys , the late style is 6-1/2” OD and the belt in the pulley would have an effective OD of 6”. The early style is 5-7/8” OD and the belt in the pulley would have an effective OD of 5”. My tractor has approximately 5” pulleys on the mule drive and the belt is a NAPA 5L980W that crosses to a B95

well sounds like I have the right pulleys then. thanks for measuring yours. Will have to see how the 92" belt works, or try the 94 one from tractor supply

All this talk about pulleys ??? If u have an early 1782 and from your pics looks like u do, it calls for cub cadet belt # 954-3023. I went out to my NOS supply safe and got a new factory belt and ran a string around the back and it measures 93 inches.I hope this helps. Dave

went and got a 94 inch belt from tractor supply, and it seems to be working a little better. the one from oreillys was slightly narrower I think. its still not perfect, but I think the motor mounts are a little soft, and letting the motor sit a little bit lower. the oil pan seems to be be about resting on the crossmember, so maybe new mounts will solve that.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
