If your tractors are giving you problems and she "has to listen to it" all the time, then she does have a legitimate complaint. You can't growl to her about your hobby. If that isn't the case...

Take your wife with you to the tractor dealer of your choice, and tell them that you need a compact utility tractor (one that will do the same jobs that your Cubs do). After they tell you how much it will cost, she will be helping find "new" Cubs for your collection.

Tell your wife that if you get a new machine that you won't have to work on, then you will have a lot more time to spend going to the "girlie bars".

I guess Betsy and I have an unusual relationship, she doesn't tell me how many tractors (and related equipment) or tools I can have and I don't tell her how many Precious Moments, purses, shoes, necklaces, bracelets, ear rings, kitchen utensils, home appliances, gadgets or knick-knacks she can have.

Realistically, if you are able to keep the grass cut, what difference could it possibly make to your wife what YOU are cutting it with??? If this is about keeping up with the neighbors (that was my ex wife) then it's time to up-grade to a better wife.

I'd play her game, say that getting rid of all the old Cub stuff is a great idea and take to the JD or Bota dealer and price out a nice shinny new JD1026R or BX2670 with all the tools you need to do what the Cubs now do. Gonna guess it will be around $16,000.00 then she will probably re-think the issue.

I have only been married for 2 years, but i have trained her well since the beginning. If she even had thoughts of me selling cub cadet or hunting stuff then she would have a significant amount of road rash on her back side and a tan line on her left finger. Then after i sold her rock I would have even more cub money...double score

I guess I would look her straight in the eyes and ask which pair of shoes you would like to keep because you are gonna downsize the shoe closet and only keep one pair.

I like this option, his and hers.....or if things don't go smoothly, his and "hearse"! You could paint hers pink or else you could loan one to your daughter to use and spend some quality time with the grand kids!

I think I'd just go buy the new BX25 and bring it home. "It was your idea, honey, just trying to follow your advice."

She keeps a spreadsheet to show me how much I spend on the tractors. I really don't care as I mow yards for the funds to repair the tractors & my 87 Jeep Wrangler. When my toys break, I fix them. She basically is a good woman, just doesn't understand "It's a Cub/Jeep thing". I have decided to swap everything I need from the single stick to the dual stick, then sell or horse trade the single stick.

This September 4th. Will be our 42nd. Anniversary. I have respected her wish's all along & & she has respected mine. I've NEVER done anything stupid nor crazy in spending our money, same for her. She never ever has stopped me from any of my hobbies. Before we got married I made it clear to her in my hobbies, hunting, fishing, etc.. I did these all before I met you & don't ever stop me in my passions in making me happy. She never has in over 44 years of knowing her.

No further comments, to each his own!

NIK,

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
