does anyone know how to compress the spring on the clutch in a vise, im trying to reinstall my teaser spring and throwout bearing, how do i compress it , do i tap the shaft, if so how

guys, i built a homemade clutch press out of 2 thick pieces of angle iron, threaded rod, and 4 washers, and nuts , i had to drill a hole to fit the bearing with a 1 1/'8 hole saw it took awile, pics soon

Sounds cool. Would like to see some pics. I put my clutch shaft in the vice vertically and used a series of two vice grips and a pry bar and used one set of vice grips to pull down on the shaft and the other set to lock it in place as well as the vice jaws. Tricky but I got it and it was enough to release enough spring pressure to remove pins

heres the clutch i pressed, i had to replace the teaser spring, the throwout bearing , and cleaned up the shaft and the pressure plates, now it needs a good disk

Good work. Can you show how it works, with the clutch, etc. in it?

thanks, you just slide the angle iron on to each side the shaft , and run the threaded rod thru and tighten it
