A t would still work, he would just have to put a pressure regulator inline with the T going to the factory valve and use a closed center for his secondary valve. Set it for 500 lbs and be done.

Mind you series plumbing second open position valve would be a lot easier and cheaper.

Depending on flow rate of the pump, blocking the charge pump with a pressure regulator on the pressure line will cause one to two HP to constantly be converted to heat,

Humphrey, feel free to plumb your tractor like that, let us know how it works out.

Humphrey, buddy, you CAN'T do that.

To the OP. If you so desire, your factory valves will work. I personally, would use a secondary valve and pump. That way, you still have hydraulics on the tractor that could be used for something such as a rear blade. I, personally suggest a dual spool valve with a single control lever. Speaking from experience running a tractor and loader with two sticks to operate it, and a backhoe with one, I would take the single lever all day. I would also use an auxiliary pump. Not because the charge pump won't handle it, but because it will move the loader faster, and it is much simpler to install, less worry about the oil in your hydro heating up, or having enough oil. All these factors are able to be "engineered" into a design, as CAD does, but you HAVE to be sure you do it right. Feel free to take more advice from others. I too am done on this thread.

Actually you can do that, that is how closed center hydraulics work...

No, closed center hydraulics use a variable displacement pump. Better check your book again. No hydraulic system sits idle while blowing a relief valve. And you NEVER mix closed and open center circuits in the same system. It just doesn't work that way.

Not true. Most closed circuit systems utilize a variable displacement pump. They also utilize fixed displacement pumps and a unloading valve. The unloading valve is a multi stage pressure regulator. Automotive power steering is a prime example of a fixed displacement pump being governed by a pressure regulator feeding a closed center hydraulic system.

So if you put a pressure regulator/ relief valve / unloading valve in between the T and the factory valve it would make the first half of the system function like a closed center system and the excess pressure would bypass through the relief valve and through the factory open center valve back to the reservoir.

Mind you it is a lot less hassle to plumb a second open center valve in series. Also cheaper by about $600.

Thanks for all the replys. This has been very interesting reading. Now I have a lot to study up on about hydrolics as I know nothing on the subject. I do like the idea of the dual spool valve with a single control lever. Sounds like a aux pump is the way to go. I still haven't decided which tractor to put it on...

Default Loader question

This thread is couple months old might be late to reply.
I would put it on 2072,it has power steering and longer wheelbase.
Would also make it dedicated loader with its own pump and 2 spoolvalve with float on lift spool and built in pressure regulator.The tractor charge pump would run it, but I would not do it for lots of reasons.
I have put together a 2072 with Kwikway and have been there.
The photo is first test after putting together.
