Now, some of us like the narrow frames with gear drive. Each to his own. I have had a model 100 cub since 1976, and mow with it every week. I got a 124 a year or two ago to mow and push snow with. It is fun to work on, and much easier to fix than a BSA, Norton, or Triumph. Cubs are getting more rare to see in use, but more are now available for purchase.
I have reached the age where I don't want to work on heavy equipment anymore, or even cars. But I still like to drive and work on these small tractors.

Just to demonstrate what condition I'm in. They just keep turning up. In the last hour I have found another cub a few miles from me..
As described to me: 1971 Cub Cadet 124, PTO, 48in mower deck, rear Plow/Grader, 4 new tires. Asking $400. I'm sure I can get it for less. From him: "Origianl Kohler 11HP". He said it had a four speed Hydro? He will send me photos. It must have a sleeve hitch and 3 point lift. Maybe power lift? Creeper? I believe he is a little confused. I don't have any with rear PTO. I'm sure I would not need it. I guess it won't hurt to go look at it....

It is worth it for the price of the hydraulic lift, if not to buy it and use it on another tractor.

yea i have a problem too.........bought a decent 72 in july that needed minor work. got that going, put one of my decks on it and have been mowing with it.
next i drug my neglected 100 out of the weeds to use for parts, next thing you know i am rebuilding the 100........starting now on a 71 that i have has since i was a teen. while searching for parts i keep coming across deals, just got a 1450, it's not even home yet (at my buddys house in south jersey) now i found a 123 in working order for a song, looks like my first post surgery road trip lol. now i want one of each body style.......a few weeks ago i just wanted every body style of the narrow frame running lol.

But I came across, what i think was maybe a 122 as I never got to see it in person and pictures were fuzzy, with mower deck, dozer blade, chains, wheel weights, new points, good seat from what i saw on pics, for $150. Deal fell through but I was going to buy it. Put weights on my snow blower, and either use or resell the rest of it for $200-400. So over double my money and get free wheel weights in the end. Please dont stop. Im 34 and plan on looking and trying to buy every one I can afford for a "deal". Keep them or resell them, Ill buy them all. And by the way, its not a habit, an addiction or anything else you or anyone else wants to call it. ITS A LIFESTYLE!! Only another Cub Cadet lover would ever understand too. Take care. Damn, it has happened again...
 Just got back from picking up a 1967 124 with power lift in great shape. New tires, wiring harness, and other things the owned just did. Came with a Gannon Earthcavator as part of the deal.. $325

If you are 65, then you probably know people....sons, daughters, grandchildren, cousins, etc...who could benefit from a good running garden tractor. I have sold a couple to relatives (and I give them a full 5 year guarantee on each cub that I sell, so if they aren't happy for any reason then they can either get their money back or get it fixed--my discretion, as long as they don't run it without oil.). You could even find some youngster who is looking for a project for 4H and sponsor them with a cub cadet, perhaps sparking the interest of a future enthusiast!! I treat it like a hobby and enjoy what I do with a cub cadet....either riding and using them or passing them on to others to enjoy!
