As far as buying replacement clutch If you have all the parts you can get the field coil rewound and a new bearing if bad all other parts should be good.

Just as an update, Spudder and I are going to use one of his tractors with a rear PTO and see if we can find some answers. Like if there are any interchanges, and if we can reproduce these rear PTO assemblies. Is anyone else interested in adding one to a tractor or getting one repaired?

Charles, I'm installing a rear pto on my 1772 and figured I should replace all the bearings back there while it was off the tractor. I took apart my clutch and found there is a spacer that keeps the rotor off the field assembly. Does yours have this part the Allen wrench is holding up?
DSCN0914.jpg I checked the air gap before I took mine apart and it is over 0.030". I think the silver shim in this photo is how you adjust the gap but it doesn't tell you anywhere what that should be. I will keep mine stock for now and see how it works. DSCN0922.jpg So far the bearings needed are: 2 - "6205" for the top bearing housing 1 - "6206" for the clutch 1 - "203KRR5 for the idler pulley 2 - ? rear pulley housing - I'm having trouble getting this one apart so it is soaking in PB for now

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
