As for the steel I'm using the same steel from another deck. Cant imagine why that wouldn't work.

I'm pretty sure you need the rails to bend in to connect to the rear cross bar thingy.

they fit took a little time to get it just right, but they slid right in.

Well that's good. Then what I did from there was wire the front up to where it should be "about" then made my uprights to just above the quick connect and clamped them, this way you can move them around a little to get them strait.
Drilled the holes for the "ears' (mark them and take them off to be drilled together in a drill press, if you have one, much easier) and slid the rod through to make sure the fit would work in the quick connector of the tractor.
After I was convinced everything would work I welded the uprights to the sub-frame, then slid the rod through and welded. I know it wasn't made that way, they "ears" are separate to each side, but I figured if it's connected it will be that much more sturdy.

I like the rod going straight through I think that gives it a little more strength up front.

Almost done with the blade. I finished the sub frame and a friend is going to weld up the front so it is level. It will be heavy duty. I think it is going to turn out better than the regular sub frame. Here are a few pix.
