Guys;

I'll take some good photos with close ups of the badge decal. I know they could have been switched...I'll check with the previous two owners...also give you all the serial/model numbers.

I've got the numbers: model 145882100; serial 2050606U746056. I also will attempt to attach a couple of pictures...sorry for the mess, I'm working on the steering. I appreciate all the comments and information. The rear decal sure looks orignal.

Somebody added those. Neither the decal nor the emblem is the right size/style that would have been used on an IH-built 82 series Cub Cadet.

Gary 1512:

1) The Model number you provided tells that this Cub Cadet was sold by a CCC (Cub Cadet Corporation) Dealer... See that 100 at the end - that is how you tell... if it had been sold by an IH dealer it would have a 399 there not the 100...

2) The one-up Serial Number you provided (746056) tells that this Cub Cadet was made towards the last of the 1985 model year production (737625 - 747224) and not likely to still be using some "left over" emblems.

3) While I suppose anything is possible, the above facts leave me to believe that the IH decalomania found on your 1512 was applied after it left the factory - most likely by the first PO or by a dealer at his request or some such...

Sorry if I'm puncturing any balloons.

Myron B

Myron, well it did leave me a little down, I was hoping had made a good find....wish I had all the facts first. It's still a nice tractor but not the deal I thought I was making. I guess the power assist steering is a little different. What do you think these tractors are worht. This one is in good shape but well used, the hour meter was repalced.

Anyone have any more opinions about this model of tractor? What they like, likes and dislikes. These just a good of tractor as the 782D's? Don't see too many of these around?

It's a 782D with different paint and decals. They are mechanically identical.

Just wondering....has the price pretty much stayed the same in most area's? Obviously price is related to interest/demand and availability.....Just don't see these around or mentioned much? What years did they make these? What's the difference in motor hp rating between these and an 882D? Assuming they are the same as the 782D hp rating?

15 hp, just like the 782D and 882. Like I said, mechanically identical. I think they were made in '86 and '87.

DUH! Sorry Matt, missed that.

Going to throw this out there then.....

15hp diesel.....
19hp Onan......

Which series tractor is better for or at plowing with a 1 furrow plow and a front mount blade. Given both tractors have the same set up with ag tires, chains, weights, etc - set up the same. Both are hydros, both have hydralic lift, and heck we will throw in the fact that both have the optional outlets on the front for the hydralic plow.

Is the 982 going to give you a smoother ride and much easier on "you" than the shorter frames? Is the shorter frames easier to get around with and nicer turning in driveway's and gardens. Is there much of a difference in the turning radius between the two tractors (982) and (782D,882D,1512)?

Reason why I am asking all the dumb questions.....

Might have the opportunity to buy a 1512 this spring (guy has yet to decide if he will sell it and only use his Kubota or not). I am just wondering if I go through the trouble of putting sleeve hitch on both units if I do buy the 1512 or not? I know it will not need the usual upgrades for cold weather starting (1512) because it already has them done supposedly.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
