I gotta hand it to McMaster Carr. They are located here in Illinois and when you call in to them, you actually get, and you might want to sit down for this, you actually get to talk to a person! Plus they ship quick so I'm sure you'll be happy with then if you've never ordered from the before. Good luck!

I just bent my straight bars and welded the hole shut and redrilled it maybe 1/4-3/8 closer to the end.
It works good on my 782.
The upper straight bars will not let the blower come all the way up as they will hit on frame flare out, thus the bend.
Think there is a curved set on evilpay now.

As for pulley, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, but McMaster Carr part #6204K24 would be a good fit. It's got a 3/4 bore, set screw, cast iron, and 4.45" OD (stock is 4.5"). As for the belt, I use Napa belts, which are made by Gates. Some will swear by IH Belts only but in the end, it's your decision. I've always had good luck with Napa belts but that's another discussion for another time. Grab belt B33 from Napa or the IH belt from you dealer (IH-78056-C1) and you should be good to go. I say this because the parts I just listed are the parts I used on my QA42A when it was on my 682 which for all intents and purposes SHOULD be the same stuff you need. Again, if I'm wrong, someone please correct me. Good luck!
That is all correct!

Well, I ordered a set of lift bars from CC Specialties and got a pulley ordered from McMaster, stopped by the local CC dealer and they had the IH belt in stock so I picked it up. Hopefully I'll have everything by the end of the week so I can get it running.

Thanks for the help!

I never knew I needed to do the conversion, I'm sure I was running it on my mtd 20/50 (totally different brackets) then my 129 then the 1811. It worked so I called it a day. I'll double check the pulley size and the arms. Thanks for the info!

Maybe too late now but you said you had a running 1250 and a 1650 that did not.rather than switch the lift to the 1250,put the 12hp engine in the 1650.It would bolt in and the blower is made for it.Just my two cents worth but the engine swap could be done in a few hours .

I am a little late but you can run with the straight bars but can only raise an inch or two. In a pinch I would.

I have used my QA 42 A on my 782 for the last 3 winters now and really like it . The only thing I did differently was , is put a smaller diameter pulley on the gear box. I now use a 4" pulley and a 31 " belt with no issues what so ever, it lets me throw the snow a bit further 15-20 feet with no issues. the main reason that I changed the pulley , was that I could not find a stock 5/8 pulley for the thrower. The only time I have issues is when we get 6 or more inches of wet heavy stuff. Then all the throwers in my area have trouble.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
