Trouble starting 129

Ok, so it does fire up. Then it sounds like a fuel problem. If you run an in-line filter, you may want to replace it or if your petcock has a pre-filter screen, then you may want to check that. However, before you do that, you may want to try the carb spray again and do it a couple of times. For example, spray--motor starts but then dies---spray again--motor starts but then dies---spray again. This cycle may take about 4 times, after that, then I would check my fuel line & filtration system.

What exactly is the point of the carb spray into the carb while trying to start?

I know that the gravity feed from the tank to the line to the carb should do it when starting, but when I turn on my petcock and allow the fuel to flow it doesn't seem to have enough fuel to start up. My battery is slow to crank over a cold cub, as is the case with others, but with the carb spray it gets a burst of fuel to the spark and allows it to fire quickly. Once it fires up, it seems to siphon the fuel through the line and run just fine.

I don't remember where I've heard that before but when I can help it,I use carb or break cleaner instead of starting fluid because I've heard that it's easier on the these small motors than straight starting fluid.

The starting fluid they have now sucks.

Original formula WD40 works well as a starting fluid and doesn't wash all the lubrication away like ether or carb cleaning solvents.
