Going to look at a 682 tonight or tomorrow... has series 2 in it, but the hours are a bit high. We'll see what it's like and how nuts his price will be..

It's a '81 so that whole first (my CCO) and last model year thing would be cool...

Well it does not seem too bad. Although I do beleive it is a CCC built with the serial number being 739XXX, and made in Ohio, he wants 800 for it. The deck is solid, spindles are tight new belts. Needs paint and a few minor parts like foot rest pads tail lights hood orn and a little bit of TLC. Motor seems to run very solid, no smoke and sounds strong for 1684 hours on it. The tranny fluid is orange, and smells a bit differnt than the Hy Trans I have. As much as I would like to aquire it, just not sure it's worth it...

If anyone could confirm the serial number and build year it would be appreciated.

Yeah, I have not contacted him on it just yet because of the overall asking price. I don't think I would offer too much for it with no grill or lights and not knowing if the elec lift works. I was holding off on it just to see what else comes up. I had a reply the other night, saying they had 2 147's one was minus the motor, but never got nothing back when asked how much. If the 682 had a sleeve hitch I would jump on it. I might make an offer and see if he'll take it, but pretty sure he won't.. Seems like the red ones are beat up pretty good around here..

The continues....lol

I'm thinking of getting a second one myself and my Wife thinks I am crazy Ha Ha. My 127 has been good to me the past year, not sure that I really need anything else right now but my logic is get something a little bigger just in case. My Dad has a fused left Ankle so he can not really use his old cub well anymore, he had to make a lever to push in the clutch by hand. I'm thinking my 127 hydrostatic would solve his problem if I can find a replacement for me.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
