Alright.... YES, it's Ryan's ol' 1050! He and I met up halfway and did the deal. Really cool to finally shake his hand. He and I have talked on here, and over the phone for about a year now. So it was long overdue to shake hands.
Some of us guys on here may never get to meet because of distance, but Ryan and I don't really live that far apart, so it was bound to happen. Picked up a few more things from him. Mainly parts that he just had no use for, but not really anything "pic worthy". Except maybe the blade. He had a NF blade that he just didn't need and I took it off his hands.

Ok, well, put a seat on it, and took it for a drive. Not gonna lie, we just rolled it from his truck to mine, and I hadn't even heard it run. Fired right up! Ryan had said it was his "go to starter" because it never failed to run even in the coldest of weather. She smokes a little, and I'd say the motor is getting tired. It's gonna run that way for now, so I can see how bad it is, and what I want to do with it. I like big motors, but being that it is a 1050, which is a pretty low production tractor, I may just leave it original. Although, a Mag 18 would look good in her.....

After the initial test drive, pulled it in and gave it an alignment. It was toed out pretty bad. Good to go now, and steers MUCH better. Then jacked it up and put a spare set of AG's on so she would be ready to work when called for duty. Now I just have to get them loaded. Without further ado, the pics.....

Love the step by step pics of it being unloaded, kinda like a tease leading up Not gonna lie, I caught myself with a big smile on my face as I read through your post, John. I'm glad she started as well for you as she always did for me. For those of you out there, I had told John that, as he said, it was my "go to starter" in the coldest of winter days but the cool part is, even in the -50° BS weather we had, she came to life to jump my big ol' truck before work a time or two! And before the unveil, I had to bite my tongue and let people guess (although you stinkers sure did peg where it came from!).

Anywho, John was right; it was good to finally meet face to face and shake his hand. He has helped me out countless times since I've joined this forum (as have others) and it was great to finally meet up. I just wish we had had more time to chit chat some more, kinda had to hurry up a bit as the day didn't allow much shooting the bull. I hope we are able to meet up more leisurely in the future really catch up. I know I'd really like to pick your brain, there's a ton I could learn.

As for the Mag 18 vs original, I think I know which way that'll go It was the same decision I faced when I had it, and I decided, like you, for such a low production tractor, original would be cool. Plus it always had plenty of power when I called on it (then again, I never mowed a hay field with it ). But hey, I've been wrong before!

Congrats on the new addition, bud! What's that make now, 14 you said?

Thanks guys! I'm very happy with it!

Yes, Ryan this makes 14. BUT, out of those, 4 are parts tractors. 2 of those 4 could probably be made work again. So, 10 anyway. Of those, only are 3 up and running. The rest are a work in progress.

Thanks Phil for helping me unload! Probably fair though, since you came over to borrow my chainsaw! LOL!

Went out tonight and used it on the lawn sweeper. (Sorry boys, no pics) And she fired right up! Really going to have to look into that tranny whine though. Sound to me like either the backlash is too tight, or a bearing is.

All in all, it's a good tractor and a great addition to the "herd".

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
