That market already exists... sort of... Parting tractors out. It hurts to say it but the parts are worth more than the entire thing. Finding goners and selling off the good bits is about the best way to make money from cubs (or till gardens or whatever for profit). The same is true for classic cars. VERY few, no matter how nice, are worth the investment in the restoration when it comes down to selling the car.

If the entire market were to rise then fewer people would be getting into them. There was a post on here not too long ago from a 16 year old. I doubt they could afford 4 digit prices for a tractor to tinker on. A former co-worker that is slowing saving a 1450 would have never bought it if it were a 4 digit thing.

Sooo.... My money pits will NEVER be worth what I've invested. That's OK with me. I like them and I'll live my use out of them. If I die first, then I REALLY don't care about the cash. Sadly, MOST of my hobbies are giant money pits (I've invested double retail prices in many different items getting them right again). It's a labor of love!

All things considered, I believe that it is a lot more tractor than what my local cub dealer is selling for the same deck size just down the road from me and this one is more of a collector's item with wheel weights, etc.

Cub Cadet 123
I look At it in person is not A $2700 may be a $800

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
