I've been using my old Triton 2 place snowmobile trailer. 2 Cubs fit fine, Dad uses it to haul his CC zero turn or 1250 down to church to mow each week. Woods getting a little iffy on it though.

Cubs without decks or attachments, fit perfectly into an S10 short bed, FWIW.

That said, I have a Coleman pop-up conversion trailer that I use behind my S10. It's very heavy due to the barn lumber used to deck it and it can run my S10 into "questionable" brakes pretty quickly with a cub and/or tiller/thrower in it.

Just be conscious of whatever the weight is of the trailer you buy. My S10 is an '01 2wd 4 cyl 5 speed, btw.

Yeah I've pulled a 5X10 with it before, no problems. Getting going works well, but stopping, that's another story.

Not sure if a 50" cub deck would clear it (seems wider than 60"... can't remember).. I'd also try to order it deck delete and install expanded metal instead to keep the weight down (make some OSB inserts to drop in it for hauling mulch or whatever). I might try to option power brakes too considering my truck. Hopefully I could get it all done, otd, for $1500 or so. I think that's fair with the ramp gate and 15" wheels. I've looked at their stuff before and its of decent quality. WAY better than TSC or HF.

My Coleman is a PIG.. The guy I bought it from said he had it on the scale at it was 1150 empty. It's proabably 6.5' x 12' too. Waaay too big for an S10. $275 with a good title though so it was hard to refuse since I needed "something"...

If you have deeper pockets my Dad bought his aluminum 24' Dove Tale open trailer from AluminumTrailer.com and picked it up at the factory (Napanee, IN). I think it was $8-9k in 2005-6. It was a very good bargain considering what it is and it weighs nothing. They'll also customize them for you (in your size, of course). His Dove Tale was the first they ever built and now its a catalog item for them. It's been absolutely trouble free for the past decade. Looking at their price of $1700 on a 5x8 I may go that way anyhow! 440lbs!

I have a 5x10 tilt deck trailer, mesh floor. That I pull with a Ford Ranger, with a slightly modded 4.0 engine, super cab. The longer wheelbase of the truck, makes handling a trailer easiler, truck is equiped with a tow package and a class 5 hitch. I have used my Buddy's 6x12 trailer to haul a 990 MTD with a deck and snow blade for another Buddy on a 250 mile round trip. t The Ranger handled it just fine but I had to increase my stopping distance.

I measured her out today. At 38" wide it'd fit between the wheel wells, and at about 67" long she'd fit lengthwise leaving no room for implements. I'd rather put it on a trailer where it's closer to the ground and won't sag the crap outta the rear end of said truck.

I agree about preferring a trailer, but the weight of a Cub really isn't much for an S10. I think they're around 800lbs? The cargo rating on a based model is 1200lbs, which seems about right. An Xtreme (ZQ8 package) or a Syclone is like 500lbs though, should you have either of those. If you're running 2 states to pick up a tractor its nice to save the gas and hassle of the trailer, or at least it's an option.

That said, I won't say how far I've exceeded the S10 rating, but it was plenty more than plenty (weight slips at the compost site were impressive).

(Attached is the front 1/3 of a Jeep XJ in the back of my old '89... It was probably around 8-900-ish pounds... truck didn't care at all, even slightly.. It dropped about 1" total and onto the overload leafs. The XJ 1/3 had no motor, but all suspension, front axle, steering, dash, partial floor pan, core support, wheels/tires, etc, etc, etc).

Anyhow, I've pretty much sold myself on that aluminum trailer now that I realize how affordable they are. You thinking any which-way?
