Has anyone really used the dual wheels? How do they work on soft soil? Last spring I had some trouble hauling maple sap with my cub once the ground unfroze. Basically the lawn tires with chains would dig down but the tractor would not go forward. I had 30 gals of sap on the rear of the tractor. Basically using two sheets of plywood I got the tractor to the sugar shed.

Would the dual rear tire help this out or not?

Duals would help, I'd go with 10.50 tires to get as much width as possible.

I've never been a fan of chains on ag tires. If you run chains on turf tires you have a flat surface for the chains to ride on and it applies pressure evenly to the chain but on ag tires the chains in only touching on the lugs and the area in between has give to it which means it not getting a good bite.

With ags, in the mud, he won't need chains. Chains are good in the snow and ice. Turf with chains as opposed to an ag in dirt/mud... No difference. IMHO the ag is better. Snow and ice, I agree with you. Although, I run chains on my ags in the winter on one tractor, turfs with chains on another. I can't see any difference in traction between the two. But I have loaded tires and weights, and a cab on the 1811 with ags on it...... that makes a big difference.

No, go with ags and ditch the chains.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
