Put the "S" mark in the window then:

There are three descriptions that have been linked. I think they are all 3 good depending on you level of ability...... of course I am partial to the one I wrote.
So here is the part that has me stumped. It seems as though the small piston that pushes the points open moves when the S is already slightly past the sight hole? I really do understand the concept here but I just can't see how I can get the points to open any earlier if the piston is not moving till the S has already gone to far. Does this make sense or am I just really not getting it (be nice J-Mech !!!!!)

Just do it like I showed. The procedure is correct. I really don't want to give a 10 min explanation. Set the points like I say/show and it will work. After you do it, look it over and see if you understand better. It might make sense after your done.

Not sure if this would help others but I converted Jonathan's guide to PDF so you can print it out and take it in the field. My MacBook Pro is just a little to expensive to be taking into the driveway and getting grease on it

That's cool! I'll add this to the end of the thread in the tech section so others can use it too!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
