I've had my Craftsman 42" Hi Speed sweeper for nine years now. It still does a great job! You can't go wrong, if you get one.

I'm surprised no one mentioned Ohio Steele. My local Cub Cadet dealer is selling them in 42" and 54". I have been thinking about getting one next time.

if you actually want the "BEST" lawn sweeper you can get...go with a Jacobson engine powered sweeper. ride on machine. or even the steiner ones. they look like round balers but they work excellent. way better than any cheap pull type machine out there.

I've got an Agri-Fab I bought new over 25 years ago, and still going strong. And it does have the plastic gears, without issues.
It all boils down to operating the equipment as it was designed. Negative feedback you speak of is most likely from some dip..... that never took care of their sweeper and expected it to be the cure all.

![]() After all of your input, and reading tons of reviews for all of the brands, I've decided on http://www.brinly.com/STS-42LXH-lawn-sweeper.html Amazon, free shipping, no sales tax! I checked out CL but everyone with a lawn sweeper for sale wanted almost a new one price. So I bit the big one and ordered it tonight. I will let you all know how it works out. Thanks, Don |

I've had an IH #2 for a few years (I think Parker made them) and it has worked great!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
