Tractor companies don't come out with "new" models in the fall like auto companies do. They come out with a new series. Might be in the middle of the year, might be in January. It's just whenever they want. It's cool to say you have a '61, "O". Or a '78, 982. But it really doesn't mean anything. I have no idea when any of my tractors were built. SN tells me everything I need to know about parts. Except my 1050. It's a 1989 because that's the only year they were made.

True to a point. Although it was more of a serial numbers break starting with the quietlines I do believe with their cast vs aluminum noses along with the spindle changez and 82 series wiring harness changes

And all of those came with serial number breaks that had nothing to do with production years. Haven't seen a tractor parts book yet that needed to know year for a particular part. Just serial number.
