If I remember just the oil light will come on if you just turn it to run. If the fuel is low that should also come on. When you go to start it the depress left pedal light will come on if you haven’t pushed the pedal down, also the reverse light will come on if it’s in reverse but you can’t push the pedal down with it in reverse (seems kind of redundant to me). The disengage PTO light will come on if you try to start it with the PTO switch in the on position.

If you want a copy of the service manual for the Cyclops send me your e-mail address in a PM and I'll get it to you.

You mow with that bad boy once or twice and you'll be spoiled.

Think you did OK considering that it had a list price of around $8900.00 back in the day.

Hi Ken,
No not this one,
Need a 2284? hehe.

I fooled around a little today with it ,The bulbs were tested on the dash and they work,I see some cut wires and new fuse holders, not sure what was done. I am surprised the 2284 was pretty clean in the hydo area,do you think with 951 hours something will be going on it soon?

They have a solid drive line. Clean oil and filter for the hydro and a couple shots of grease in the CV joints every year and you will become a believer. No more rag joints or shake rattle and roll. Trust me you got one of the last of the best. Holler if you have any questions. You can sit back, tilt the steering wheel and cruise like a Joisey Boy, a cold one and a stogie and you be stylin.

The cut wires and new fuseholders may be part of that CC sponsored wiring update to eliminate false alternator lights when the charging system is working ok and also to prevent the starting problem that causes to solenoid to just click and not start. I ran across instructions on the mods while researching wiring diagrams on another model.

Frank,
I would like to see the info about the wiring. I assume it probably includes the Kubota powered models? My 1782 has the false alternator light problem and it drives me nuts. It also had the click problem with the starter, but I haven't experienced it since the upgrade.

I see that solenoid by the left side hydro lines had the wires cut and a new harness dated 2004 was installed for the idiot lights.

I changed the oil and filter today, fixed the lights, still have to hook up the low fuel wire, but I am still not getting the oil light to come on,cleaned the contact on oil sensor, but nothing.
Does it come on only when low on oil?Dumb question....
I know the 1811 I had,the light would come on always when I put the key in the run position before starting.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
