The seller didn't do anything; this is how ebay works. If the auction has a reserve and someone enters a maximum bid that meets or exceeds the reserve, it goes right to that so the item will sell. The seller cannot see your hidden maximum, nor can he do anything do the bids other than cancel them entirely.

i think alot of the pricey accessories your better off just waiting for a whole tractor with them. thats how i got my 2 sets of weights, narrow frame hydro and creeper. $200 for the 100 with hydro lift and creeper, $120 for a good running 109 and weights then $600 for my 1650 with weights. and it always seems like the people that have these rare tractors are people that have no idea what they have? idk i'm just talking i guess......

ihnick,

That's true. You have to be patient and wait, sometimes you find a cub along the roadside for a little of nothing. That is if you are willing to wait!!! It is sad to watch others pick apart good cubs, but we are the enthusiast who see it at a hobby and not a business. The people parting them out see it as a business that caters to our hobby!!!

One of my friends has parted 50 or more cubs and he priced a great working 127 with a blade for $500 to me---which I thought was a little too much. He said that if it doesn't sell, then he would have to "junk it"---as he says (to spare our feelings, I should say "part it out"...haha). I hate to see it parted, but I don't have the $500 either to prevent it. Guess that's life, like it or not.

Look up "cub cadet 123" on E-bay. There was a cub on there, I think from CT, and the guy has a hydraulic lift on it and is asking $500. It also has lights. His price is reasonable comparing the prices of hydraulic lifts that are selling, yet it doesn't sell. He has listed it before and stated that if it doesn't sell, then he will part it out--BUT HE HASN'T PARTED IT YET AND I'M GLAD TO SEE THAT HE HASN'T. I think that it is just too far away for many of us to consider with shipping like it is. Well, there are good bargains to still be had and the cubs were built to last, so just keep your eyes open and be patient!!!

I agree it's a shame for people without conscience to discover a market then simply destroy whatever it takes to make money. I have always thought it to be a bad idea to part a repairable cub. I have found that if you want an accessory it sometimes pays to shop for a cub with that accessory. A lot of the time you can buy the whole cub for what the part cost on eBay.

Just my thoughts on the matter....

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
