I don't have the 59m but I do Have the Mighty Mac (green) version. I use mine to make mulch for the garden each year. It mounts in the same manner that the snow blowers do. It is also adjustable for the wide and narrow frames. Mine is usually mounted on my 169 and I rarely have to go above 1/3throttle as the splinters fly. I don't do much green brush/shrubs, but i have chipped or shredded or whatever board material that was punky.

I moved my equipment out of the barn for insurance pics and as soon as I can, I'll post some pics. The unit is really quick to mount/dis-mount. As far as 1-1/2 " branches, that's usually campfire stock so I haven't even considered it. Trying to SLOWLY feed is risky so I just let the unit choose it's own feeding rate and if something is too big after 1 pass, it gets a second or more passes.

I've attached a pic, though not very clear, of the unit. Will post more/better in a couple days when I get home.

Happy Cubbing! FFGino.

FFGino-

I am looking forward to seeing some more pictures of the Mighty Mac you have adapted to a cub (I assume). I have a Mighty Mac that I mentioned before and have been thinking about doing a mod and mount it on a cub. If you would, please get some close-ups of the mounting system when you take the pics.

Thanks.....Wayne

Default Mighty Mac Chipper on a Cub wideframe

Wayne, I got home early due to a death in the family, so in a moment of solitude, I pulled out the chipper and snapped away. I don't know how much of the unit you have but everything in the pics came with mine when I purchased it from the IH/Cadet dealer as a used unit. Let me know if these pics help.

FFGino. Happy Cubbing.

P.S. I'll post more pics next week when things settle down a little.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I hope the family is doing well. I've been busy in the garden and away from the site for a while.

That was definitenly made for IH equipment. I haven't ever seen this version. My Mighty Mac is a wheelbarrow type I am thinking to convert.

Thanks for the pics.....Wayne

Don't know if this helps,--
It is a hammer mill type and is not for big limbs.
it came with 3 screens.

That's a nice shredder you have there too OlGeorge. I'd really like to have an 59M but with my conditions around here I really need the chipper. I have very large maples in my yard and they produce sticks, twigs, and limbs year around. I use the shredder for all of the leaves but there are always sticks lying around. I also realize the shredder will handle small sticks too but I always have an assortment. The shredder doesn't do that good of a job with sticks for me. They come out ragged at times and with the chipper right there I just cram it full of the small stuff and I'm done. I've heard more than once that these chippers will handle branches up to 3 inches but that's if you have nothing to do for the next week. I never go over about two inches unless the branch is mostly rotted. The bigger stuff takes too long and I feel is too hard on the machine. It gets carried off to the woods or cut up for firewood.

Does the 59M have riggid shredders or flails? My Mighty Mac has flails but I also have a Kemp of the same size and it has riggid shredders. Both have the chipper chute and the Kemp is a pull behind four wheeler. The pull behind is used mainly down my 1300 foot driveway since the Mighty Mac is a wheelbarrow style and has to be pushed. I adapted my lawn trailer with a rear hitch so I look like a train with the tractor, trailer, and the shredder. I have a picture of it somewhere but it is with my green tractor so...

Didn't mean to write a book.....Wayne

I use a screen that is full of 3/4" holes. I think it's the fine screen. I have another that just has bars welded across the whole radius. It renders a more coarse product I guess is to make material easier to transport. I just keep the "holy" screen on at all times. If it ever gets stopped up from moist leaves I just throw a few sticks in to clear it. Pine cones work good too. When you get them just try them all out and see what suits your needs.

Good luck....Wayne

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
