It will probably be a few weeks. I will send you the best one for POTW.

Now that I derailed your thread, lets get back on topic

Hot setup would be to use the motor plate, spacers, muffler and drive shaft from the 1864 then all you need is the adapter for the pump. Would make it a bolt in swap. If you had the pump from the 1864 you wouldn't even need the adapter. Pretty sure the PTO from the K will bolt on the CH.

What Sam said!

I you don't have a deck that goes with the 782 (4.5" pto) you may want to use the 6" that is on the CH. Then you would be able to use the same attachments the you have for your cyclops. Just a thought.

I may not even have a PTO on my 782, since I plan on leaving the blade on it.

It's seriously that "easy"? I wasn't sure the driveshaft was the right length from an 1864 to be a direct fit for the 782. Do you happen to know where one could get the pump adapter?

What pump are we dealing with? Pump on the 782 should have a 5/8" shaft with a 1/4" spirol pin. Pump for the 1864 has a splined shaft. I can furnish whatever you need.

I'm going to use the stock cast rear on the 782 so it'll be the 5/8 shaft and spiral pin.

On another note, I talked to the guy again about the engine. A quick bit of backstory; his plan was to sell me the engine and sell the entire rest of the 1864 to another guy who already has an 1864 is poor cosmetic shape. That guy would just swap his engine over and have a nice looking 1864. Sooo I get ahold of my buddy and tell him I'd want the engine plate and driveshaft with it since it wouldn't be needed by anybody anyway. Now his price went up Really? He got the entire tractor, a 42" blade, and a 54" deck for $350. As it is with this current deal, he's going to make money just selling the engine and tractor not to mention the accessories and he's trying to jack the price up on me? Drives me nuts! Ok, rant over I'm still hoping this works out, though; I'm an optimist

To bad you sold the 1864 but it is what it is, BTDT on an 1882 deal. I bought an 1882 with a 3 point and AG tires with a crapped Mag18, sold it to a member here then ended up buying it back less the 3 point and AG tires. Live and learn. Get the engine, motor plate, spacers, muffler and drive shaft. You'll be glad you did in the long run. Take a good look at your pump input shaft to make sure it's not worn.

It's getting that way with him. He won't buy unless it's low and he won't sell unless it's high. But that's enough about him, I don't like bashing other guys and that's what it's starting to feel like

Ouch! I don't know that I could have let that 1882 go with or without a bad motor with those accessories

Anyway, I'll check my pump input shaft and make sure it's good to go. As for the deal, I told him I'd buy it all back for $350 or he can keep the deck (he wants that for another machine) and I'd give him $275. He won't take it but a guy has to try. If this doesn't work out, I'm not going to break my back to make it happen. He can have it if he wants it that bad.

Well guys, we got things figured out. I'm now getting the engine, muffler, engine plate, drive shaft, correct blade lift bracket, and we're swapping blade subframes for $200. Phew, that was a long night of "negotiations" to get what I felt was a pretty fair deal (even considering what he paid for it). So that should hopefully make this project 10x easier having all that stuff up front.

Roland: Got a pic of the tag for you:

Sam: So now that I know this is going to happen, what do I need to get from you for the driveshaft adapter?

And as always, thanks guys. I'll be sure to chronicle this endeavor with plenty of pics!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
