Chris
I've been inside 3 or 4 of them in the last year. The first one I figured this is going to be a major project, not so bad next one it was OK the first one didn't blowup or leak, by the third it's these are no big deal. Just take your time, read the manual and make sure everything is kept CLEAN and you should be just fine. If you have a question holler and we'll do our best to help. If I can do it so can you.

Check real close. I thought I had a cork gasket leak. Turned out to be the expansion plug in the transmission case.

Yes, Chris, with a clean work area, it's not bad. Be sure to read the dis-assembly instructions and don't mix up the parts. Some look nearly identical but aren't. Follow the reassembly instructions carefully. On one rebuild, I got the charge pump o-ring out of position, (pinched) and that disabled the entire unit. Just work slowly and methodically. I've been through 3 or 4 of them now.

I split my 1450 this past spring. It was the first one I split. I was surprised at how easy it was. These garden tractors are well made and pretty simple.
A NF will be a little more difficult but shouldn't be too bad. The lack of a tunnel cover will made disconnecting the driveline a little harder. It could be worse - have you ever replaced a timing belt on a v6 engine? Splitting a CC is waaaay easier. |

First time for me was November, and it went back together in less than one beer. Drove it outta the shop when cracking the second.
Spent another Sunday afternoon adjusting the hydra... The v6s I hated to belt the most were twin cam Maxima's. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
