Looks like a pretty nice machine but with no options. $2K tops is what I'm thinking also. Good luck

That's the consensus of the OCC community and that's where I will stand. After a test drive of course. Lol

I agree that $3000 is steep. I paid $1400 for my 1572.
It's not a diesel but I think for the money I would rather own this 982 with some options. http://ithaca.craigslist.org/grd/4863642953.html

Well this thread took an unexpected turn, thanks to Sbauerz28. I called on the 982 it has around 900 hours on it, he is taking the ad down and I'm going to look at it when I get back in town. Thanks again to all the contributors for the comments and leads. Oh I'm canceling my visit to see the 1772.

You aren't kidding. I just checked the link and he already deleted the post. I had my eye on that tractor for a few days now, but I really don't need it.
I like that someone already added power steering to it, or maybe it was an option? I think with just a new seat it would change the look of the whole tractor.

I agree. Were you looking at buying that 982? If so I'm out.

No, I didn't plan on buying it. I seen it for a few days now and after reading this thread I figured I would post the link to give you another option. I wasn't sure if you were stuck on a diesel or not but I knew it had the expensive and some what rare options that the 1772 was lacking.

That 982 also had turning brakes too didn't it? I think they were also an option. The pics are down now but I think I remember seeing the pedals.
Steve.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
