I've used Rustoleum School Bus Yellow on some projects, but it doesn't match any of the Cub Cadet yellows; it's close. Ace Hardware Stores have it in big 15 oz cans for about $5/can. One of the best can spray paints I've used for durability. Also has a superior spray nozzle that is adjustable.

Stopped at NAPA this morning and picked up a can of Krylon Farm & Equipment spray can. $6. Stock on their shelf. Color was called "Old Equipment Yellow."

Thought I would try it on the foot rests which are hanging up, primed a little.

Surprisingly the color looked darn good, a match. Tried the spray on a few fender nicks/scratches. Surprised again, 'course my color vision might not be great but, looks like a perfect match to the yellow on my '95 CCC 1641.

I saw that one too at NAPA. If this old memory serves, I think Duplicolor also has a Farm Equipment yellow also. Duplicolor makes excellent paint.

I painted a vinyl tractor seat, was gray, using black Duplicolor Vinyl & Fabric paint. Worked great.

I then used red Duplicolor Vinyl & Fabric paint on my red cloth pickup seats. Great results!

I cannot recall the name of the Rust Oleum yellow. I am sure it wasn't School bus yellow, it was one of the 2X cover series paints.

Purchased a quart of Majic Cub Cadet yellow at TSC. Doesn't match the 1641's yellow.

Just too yellow. Wondering if I mixed in a bit of black?

The Krylon Old Equipment Yellow is a match but only available in rattle cans. Very nice.

And so, the plan! Just use the Majic on the deck after lots of scraping, sand blasting, primer. The yellow MTD paint job is the worst tractor painting I've ever seen.

Is there a code number for the CCC 1641 yellow? Perhaps I can go to Sherwood Williams or somewhere and have a color match done?

I've found out over the years that you might run into a good can of paint by just about any supplier. The question is, what happened to that can of paint from the time it left the plant, trip to the Warehouse, to the store, to you. Did it freeze? How old is it? Month's, Years? I've bought Duplicolor years ago that was great paint but this past summer I bought a case of their Federal School Bus Yellow that don't cover and runs like Gasoline! What a mess! Do They make a bad product? I don't think so, but I would like to see in plain English (not some code) of a Mfg Date on all paint cans so you have some kind of idea what your buying. As for now, I shop for Valspar.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
