All the 1x8/9 series should have that decal on the grille.

Very nice original looking 149, those rear ag tires set it off nicely.

If you've never used it before, you're going to appreciate that hydraulic lift. It should make using the pushblade much more enjoyable than the armstrong setup on the Suburban.

I spent a few minutes going over the whole tractor today. I'm definitely going to repaint the white stuff. It's not original paint, it's been spray paint touched up over the years. So that and decals should help. I need to find out how to get the dash off, decals are good, but there's white overspray on the wrinkle black, I can reshoot that.

Hi Zimm17 and welcome to OCC. I'm sure you will love your 149. To get the dash tin off I removed the amp gauge, choke and throttle levers, hydro lever, steering wheel, and the steering column. I was doing a complete refurbishing so all of it came off. I followed IHinIN's process in his work on his 129 cleaning up the bright areas, taping off and respraying the black, and adding new decals. Good luck on your work.

Does anyone have original pictures of a 149 or similar tractor? I'm curious to see what parts where painted what color. I'm assuming the engine was yellow, but I see lots of colder cubs with black engines, or yellow starter/generators while mine is black. Also the seat spring/mounts on mine are white, not sure if that's correct or not.

My brother has a HVLP spray gun and I'm going to buy white and yellow from the case/IH dealer this weekend.

I'm undecided if I want to just paint the white tins ASAP, or wait a month for snow season to be over and partially strip the tractor down (pull the fenders and tin work) to degrease the tractor, and maybe paint the outside of the frame and do the fenders in yellow as well as the white tins.

I also need to figure out if I want to repaint the wheels when I swap tires this weekend. I think they'll clean up pretty good, but I don't want to regret how they look after the new tires are on.

Here you can see that I what to do the white areas. Not sure if I want to keep the original decal on the tunnel or use the new one.

You can see the fenders have been touched up over the years.

Since your spraying with a gun I'd look into the case/IH paint, I use it on my tractors and it sprays nice and has a real nice shine to it.

I am going to pick up case/IH paint, a quart of each. Do you use their hardener and reducer, or buy something else?

I use there hardner and reducer. If your planning to paint the yellow you will need more than a qt, yellow( regardless of the brand ) doesn't cover very well so it will take more coats. I useds about 3 qts doing all the yellow on my 108, I bought a gallon and had about a qt left over.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
