I forgot to ask about the air filter, but assume it's good.

I want to say EGR valve hung open, but that isn't relevant if we're comparing it to a cub. Neither would the cat.

Fuel pressure, volume, and quality good?

In my very non-professional opinion it is a timing issue. If the intake valve closes early, it will not get enough air but the same amount of fuel resulting in rich mixture and the other symptoms.

Glad I could be of help

J - mech the car I had was running exactly how you describe. Fuel trims we're rich, random misfires, but 1 cylinder missed more, IAC and map readings were the same. I couldn't hear a vacuum leak. To be honest when I pulled the car in my immediate thought was the timing was off, exhaust had that wonderful sound. If your car is misfiring on one cylinder more than the other put a fuel source underneath that cylinders intake runner, I would bet money the engine speed picks up. We use a propane torch with hose.

Had plenty of time and cars with this engine (unfortunately). My instincts tell me timing, although the compression numbers make me wonder

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
