The ignition switch on a 782 and the 680 are probably the same. I imagine the PTO switch would be, too. You won't have (or need) the reverse relay or reverse switch, as those came later on.

The 1210 is a mag harness, Starter location and so forth may be a little off but the harness is complete and will suit your set up, may need to reroute a wire or two but....

murphycc@yahoo.com

Just pay shipping and it's yours...with ign switch.

Murphycc, thanks for the harness! It looks pretty straight forward but I have a couple ? The wiring diagram I got from R Bedell shows letters at the terminals but none of my parts have these letters on them so i'm sure how to check it. I'm not sure about the wiring by the fuses, I have two red or orange wires and a doubled up white and a single white and then two yellow that I think are the hr clock. By the motor there is a three prong plug,I only have one wire off the ign module so i'm not sure about this. Would anyone have a diagram that shows the harness as it really is and what parts they go to?
I hope I'm making sense, please bear with me.

You need to look at a mag diagram, preferably one of a 1210, and look at the ignition switch, now look at the plug as though it were connected to the switch. You should be able to trace out the wires that way. The two switches I sent you should be good and I think both are mag switches. The only thing I can think of that you may need to trace back are the alt/charge wire and the mag kill wire of which the plug may be different than that of your Vanguard.

BTW Dan, if it were me I would do two things-

I would first take the bundle out of the loom and after I got the harness figured out I would take it back off the tractor and wrap it up real nice with tape, much cleaner look and better protected in my opinion.

Secondly, I would connect all the wires that are obvious, that should be about 80% of them, once that is accomplished it's much easier for me to concentrate on the 20% that need to be figured out.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
