It has a 50a deck. From everything I've read it takes a 3/8 belt. 4 1/2" pulley on deck so that should be 78" as well.

Good news today. Took the deck off and it's in really good condition minus a little rust. The engine mounts are fine, the problem was it was missing both left side bolts to oil pan! I'm really happy and hope I can start to use her after I get the hydro fluid and filter changed!

Well the oil pan is a mess. One side has a stripped hole and a broken motor mount bolt. Time to look for a cast pan! Also figured out the brakes are shot.

Ya gotta make it run before you need brakes... Besides that, it's a hydro, wadda ya need brakes for?

While you are waiting for an oil pan you can do the cradle modification.

We have quite a few hills so the brakes are kind of important. I will be doing the cradle mod soon. I got the pad material ordered today. Hopefully my trans gasket will be here tomorrow and I can knock that out.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
