Some guys have trouble with them and so they take them off. I learned to run with a big plow, and I prefer to have one. Will it work without.... YES. It just doesn't leave as nice of a furrow wall for the guy behind. Purpose of the cutter is to cut the trash or sod and to "score" the ground to leave a nice smooth furrow wall. Early plows did not have them, so yes, it will work.

i just watched a few plow day videos and it looks like 99% of plows either dont have them or there turned up so i guess im good to go. gotta install my new clutch and driveshaft and get my 3 point and brinly adapter painted and installed. im getting pretty excited, just sucks its 3hrs each way.
